How to Quickly Adapt your Plans

The Alphabet Plan: For When Plan A no longer works.

People often come to me and say something like, “I’m eating and working out the same as I always have, but I’m gaining weight (or losing weight, or losing energy, or feeling weak, etc.).”

Sometimes all it takes is switching things up a bit!

I get why people resist, but changing our routines and plans is a must as we go through different phases. What worked for you in your 20s won’t necessarily work in your 60s. What we consume, how we move, and how we recover depend on lots of factors.

And just when you think you’ve got it figured out, it’ll be time to change again:

1. Age matters.

Getting older doesn’t mean doing less or skipping out on things you love. It just means adjusting your approach.

2. Phase of life makes a difference.

Having a stressful job, little kids at home, or taking care of an elderly loved one doesn’t mean you give up on healthier habits; it just means switching to a different plan.

3. Injuries or health issues can play a role

Moving to a plan with temporary or permanent modifications can help you get to the next phase or plan faster and in a healthier way.

Plan A doesn’t always work.

If you’re still eating the same foods and doing the same workouts week after week with little to no changes, and you’re feeling frustrated because it’s no longer working, then it’s time to switch to the next plan. And if you get to Plan Z and things change again, then start again with A!
