Once a year, I do a fruit and vegetable cleanse. This is a 10-day detox (NOT a way of regular eating), where you basically only eat fruits and vegetables. It’s not the easiest to do (although every year gets easier), but you will feel so much better by the end!

If you wish to do this on your own and/or a different time of year, here are the guidelines:
Between 8:00 am and noon, you can only eat fruit (apples, oranges, strawberries, kiwi, lemons, and limes are the best- try to stick to these if you can).
You may also have unsweetened applesauce and unsweetened apple juice. You may drink the apple juice as much as you want throughout the day.
NO coffee or caffeine of any kind!
Between noon and 8:00pm, you may have all the vegetables you want, cooked or raw. You may have all the olive oil you want and use herbs, onions, and garlic for seasoning. These are all good for detoxing and white potatoes are great for detoxing. You may also use lemon and lime juice throughout the day as well. You can make salad dressing with olive oil and lemon juice.
No food between 8:00 pm and 8:00 am (you can pick a different 12 hour period, just make sure it’s the same every day).
You may also drink all the decaffeinated herbal teas you want and it is recommended to drink a detox tea or laxative tea. The detox teas, which many brands offer, are a mild laxative tea.
These are the only guidelines. So no caffeine, sugar, alcohol, wheat, nuts, grains, dairy, etc!
